The path to self discovery: Requires laughter
Day 2 of the 4th annual Explore More Summit. This is a free online conference that I would highly recommend; This year’s topics explore discovering our passions and joys. As I follow the the conference, I will try and share my experiences and encourage you to provide feedback or questions. Part 1 here.
Today The feeling that is most prominent in my life is overwhelmed. I am currently working on a major re-write of one of the primary content management systems in Architech. While there is not a major deadline for this re-write, it does involve many critical areas of the application, and the work is slow going.
Today my body wants me to know that sleep is overrated and 3:30am is a perfectly acceptable time to be fully awake (even without coffee). I disagree. The mental stress associated with career, family life, and other personal expectations can manifest as restlessness.
If I move in the direction of my pleasure and satisfaction, one thing I might do is to re-connect with long lost friends, and try to plan something fun to grow the relationships.
One part of myself that needs a little extra compassion is my ability to forgive my dog as she sits by my side, passionately chewing her way through my brand new shoelaces, bought less than one week ago to replace the previous laces–which she has also eaten.
A small affirmation or reminder I’d like to carry with me today is to remember that it is only a Tuesday–and it can’t be Tuesday every day.
